Display Dream Art Collection on a Fire TVs using VLC

Step 1) Plug in the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Turn on the TV.

  2. Insert the Dreamscreens USB into the TV’s USB port.

    • If you’re using a Fire TV Stick (instead of a Fire TV Edition TV), you may need an OTG adapter to connect a USB drive.

Step 2) Install the VLC app (VLC for Fire)

  1. From the Fire TV Home screen, go to Find (or the search icon).

  2. Search for VLC.

  3. Select VLC for Fire (VLC Media Player) and choose Download / Get.

    • VLC is commonly used on Fire TV for playing media files (including photos).

Step 3) Open VLC and allow USB/storage access

  1. Launch VLC.

  2. If prompted, select Allow for storage/USB permissions.

    • If you accidentally denied permission:
      Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → VLC → Permissions → enable Storage (wording can vary by Fire OS version).

Step 4) Browse to the USB drive in VLC

  1. In VLC, go to Browse (left menu).

  2. Look for a location such as:

    • USB Drive / USB storage

    • External storage

    • A drive name (sometimes shown as a folder/device entry)

  3. Open the USB drive, then open the folder that contains your Dream Art Collection images.

If you don’t see the USB drive:

  • Unplug/replug the USB and wait ~10 seconds.

  • Try a different USB port (if available).

Step 5) Start the slideshow

VLC treats a group of images like a playlist and plays them in sequence as a slideshow.

  1. Open the folder with the images.

  2. Start playback by selecting the first image (or use Play if you see it).

  3. VLC will advance through the images automatically (commonly ~10 seconds per image by default).

Step 6) Loop the slideshow (so it keeps running)

  1. While the slideshow is playing, open Playback controls (OK/Select on the remote usually brings up the on-screen controls).

  2. Toggle Repeat / Loop until it shows repeating the playlist (loop icon).

    • This keeps the art cycling continuously.

Optional: Change how long each image stays on screen

Depending on the VLC/Fire TV version, you may be able to change the image duration in VLC settings (on some platforms it’s under advanced preferences for image playback duration). If your Fire TV build doesn’t expose this setting, the slideshow will use VLC’s default timing (often ~10 seconds per image).

Troubleshooting

USB drive doesn’t show up in VLC

  • Confirm the USB is fully inserted.

  • Try another port or a powered hub (some ports don’t supply enough power for certain drives).

  • If you’re on a Fire TV Stick, make sure you’re using an OTG adapter and that Fire TV recognizes external storage.

VLC opens but won’t display some images

  • All Dreamscreens images are standard JPG images. If you copied additional files onto the USB, unsupported types may not display.

VLC can’t access storage (permissions issue)

  • Go to: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → VLC → Permissions → enable storage access.

Display Dream Art Collection on Samsung Smart TVs

Step 1) Insert the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Insert the Dreamscreens USB into an available USB port on the TV.

Step 2) Open the media viewer

  1. Press Home on your remote, then navigate to Apps, or look for a USB device detected pop-up.

Step 3) Browse to your images

  1. Select the USB drive, then open the folder containing your Dream Art Collection images.

Step 4) Start and loop the slideshow

  1. Select any image to open it, then look for a Slideshow or View option in the on-screen menu (press the Down arrow or More while viewing a photo).
  2. In the slideshow options, set Repeat to on so the collection loops continuously.
Note: Menu wording and location vary by Samsung model year. If you don’t see these exact options, look for “Multimedia” or “Smart View” in the main menu.

Display Dream Art Collection on LG (webOS) TVs

Step 1) Insert the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Insert the Dreamscreens USB into an available USB port on the TV. A menu should pop up automatically. If not, press Input on your remote and select USB Flash Drive.

Step 2) Browse to your images

  1. Select Photo, then open the folder containing your Dream Art Collection images.

Step 3) Start and loop the slideshow

  1. Open any image, then access the on-screen Slide menu (usually via the Options or More button).
  2. Set the slideshow to Repeat so it loops continuously.
Note: Use a USB drive 32GB or smaller for best compatibility. Larger drives can sometimes cause playback issues on LG TVs.

Display Dream Art Collection on Sony (Android TV / Google TV) TVs

Step 1) Insert the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Insert the Dreamscreens USB into an available USB port on the TV.

Step 2) Open the media viewer

  1. Press Home, then select Photo under the Media or Apps menu.

Step 3) Browse to your images and start the slideshow

  1. Open the folder containing your Dream Art Collection images, then press the green button (or select an image and press Options) to start the slideshow.

Step 4) Loop the slideshow

  1. In Playback Options, set Slideshow Effect and Slideshow Speed to your preference. The slideshow will loop automatically once started.
Note: On newer Google TV models, you can alternatively set Dream Art Collection as your Ambient Mode screensaver via Settings > System > Ambient Mode.

Display Dream Art Collection on Vizio (SmartCast) TVs

Step 1) Insert the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Turn the TV off, then insert the Dreamscreens USB into an available USB port.

Step 2) Start the slideshow

  1. Turn the TV on. A menu should appear with Start Slideshow highlighted. Press OK.
  2. The slideshow will loop automatically through all images in the drive’s root folder.
Important: Vizio TVs require FAT32 formatting. NTFS is not supported. Some newer SmartCast models have limited or no built-in USB slideshow support. If your TV doesn’t show a USB menu, check your model’s manual or consider a Fire TV Stick or Roku device as a workaround.

Display Dream Art Collection on TCL / Roku TVs

Step 1) Insert the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Insert the Dreamscreens USB into an available USB port on the TV.

Step 2) Install the Roku Media Player channel

  1. From the Roku Home screen, go to the Channel Store and search for Roku Media Player.
  2. Install it (it’s free).

Step 3) Browse to your images

  1. Open Roku Media Player, select Photo, then select your USB drive.
  2. Open the folder containing your Dream Art Collection images.

Step 4) Loop the slideshow

  1. Highlight the folder and press the Instant Replay button on your remote (left of the * button) to loop the slideshow continuously.
Note: Roku Media Player doesn’t let you change how long each photo displays. For more control, third-party channels like “Play USB” offer adjustable timing.

Display Dream Art Collection on Hisense (VIDAA) TVs

Step 1) Insert the Dreamscreens USB drive

  1. Insert the Dreamscreens USB into an available USB port on the TV.

Step 2) Open the media player

  1. Press Input (or Source) on your remote, then select Media Player or USB.

Step 3) Browse to your images

  1. Browse to Photos, then open the folder containing your Dream Art Collection images.

Step 4) Start and loop the slideshow

  1. Select an image to start the slideshow. Look for a Repeat or Loop option in the on-screen menu.
Note: Loop behavior varies by model and VIDAA software version. If Repeat isn’t available under Photos, try starting a music track first, then switching to the Photos tab and pressing Play. This triggers a continuous slideshow on some older VIDAA models.
